The Old Man of Storr is a famous rock formation located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It is part of the Trotternish Ridge, a dramatic landscape formed by a massive ancient landslide that left a series of jagged pinnacles and cliffs. The Old Man of Storr is the most iconic of these pinnacles, standing around 50 meters (164 feet) tall.
Legend has it that the Old Man of Storr is the thumb or a finger of a giant who once inhabited the area. After his death, he was buried with his hand sticking out of the ground, creating the distinctive shape of the rock. The rock formation’s eerie, almost otherworldly appearance, combined with the rugged beauty of the surrounding landscape, has made it one of the most photographed and visited sites on the Isle of Skye.
